Paul Middendorf is currently an independent curator in Portland, Oregon. Starting off curating for the Modern Zoo he meshed well with many of the staff and directors, later continuing separate projects with them.
He was Co-Founder as well as Creative Director for Disjecta Interdisciplinary Art Center until 2005. He has been working directly in the local art scene for the last five years. For several years he was the founder of the well traveled arts group Manifest Artistry that spawned from the one-time wonder Modern Zoo. Working closely with the City of Portland and its community, Paul sits on various committees and works with organizations across the country and globe. He now continues promoting and representing Portland’s art and artists through his new space Gallery Homeland, which has been operating nationally and internationally. Paul has curated and performed in projects including Lifeboat Maimi / Art Basel, Lifeboat Hamptons, PS1 NY, and co curated for the Istanbul Biennale project Waterways. Paul continues to support and sponsor under-represented artists, ideas, and concepts locally, nationally, and internationally.
