galleryHomeland is programming it's next season of Scratching the Surface in August 2007.
Deadline for submissions is June 10th.
The Project Mission
Scratching the Surface is a city- wide art project that acknowledges and embraces the Willamette River’s powerful role in promoting culture through community and exploration and to build symbolically on this role. Scratching the Surface utilizes the Willamette as a contextual backdrop as well, as an actual physical force to artistically explore the nature of our rapidly growing city. Through the collaboration between the creative economy and the general public, Scratching the Surface builds a positive story of the Willamette and its impact on the community living around it.
We are looking for artists of all mediums to apply. There are no application fees, only rules. All submissions are juried by the galleries Vision Committee. The Vision Committee is compiled of galleryHomeland staff along with local artists, curators, and other such leaders in the art community. Artists can send one email containing all of the following.
- Artist’s CV with contact number and email
- Artist’s Biography
- Up to five images of previous work and links to work on the web.
- Project description including:
- materials used
- estimated size and dimensions
- estimated time frame ( mainly for performances and other interdisciplinary events)
If submitting as a music or other act, please list length of set.

Last year was such a great year with so much wonderful feedback. We can’t wait to get started on the programming for another summer on the water.
