For Sale   Nicole Amore, Erin Letterman, Nick diSessa, Charles Moss and Jason Amore

“For Sale” is a critical exploration of the commercial aspects of the art world and how those forces drive the type of art that is produced and purchased. While the real estate market determines what classes of people live where, the art market determines to a great extent who views and buys certain types of art. The most widely available and affordable art for the average middle class citizen is typically found in a consumerist venue, such as a home furnishing store or mall gallery. Therefore their view and appreciation of art is often limited to the mass-produced, home décor variety of cottage scenes and still lifes. Meanwhile, the elite can buy “high” art for the inflated cost of the average over-priced house, blurring the line between art and property.
