galleryHOMELAND hosts a night of multidisciplinary artwork by Eliza Fernand. Interactive sculptures will be installed in, and floating about the space. A series of fabric-covered doorways called Connect, entices viewers to engage in a gestural custom with one another, and Floating Tube Clouds offer treats for the viewers seeking a snack. Voluptuary Pair is Fernand’s first two-person performance, she and performer Molly Enright will engage in a series of actions with handmade costumes and transforming sculptures. Following the performance will be a special set by Dang Momma, the musical project between Mark Deutsch and Eliza Fernand, with other talented guests.
The performance art of Eliza Fernand combines the reality of our time and place with an abstract and fluctuating surreality. With her costumes, performance objects, and her body, she transforms familiar materials and reference points, leaving the audience with an array of sensations to cling to. She has performed at The Stone, Roulette Intermedium, and the Bowery Poetry Club in New York City, at 21 Grand in Oakland, and at various public spaces in Portland. A graduate of PNCA, Fernand now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
