There’s a whole lotta galleryHOMELAND goodness going on this month. Research Club is officially taking over HOMELAND for their curatorial residency with not one, not two, but THREE shindings in the month of June and curating until November! Help us spread the word, and hopefully we’ll see you there.
And to help ensure you’re not wandering lost and/or confused around SE Portland, galleryHOMELAND is located in the historic Ford Building at 2505 SE 11th Street.
Also, if you want to be invited to Research Club events on Facebook, make sure you friend our mascot, Dusty Sipowicz (http://www.facebook.com/people/Dusty-Sipowicz/100002234578230). Otherwise you’ll just get updates, since pages can’t send proper invites.
Body of Knowledge Part 1:
|
| VISION
June 10 -July 29, 2011 Participating Artists: Vision seeks to exhibit and examine the evidence of the continual process of searching, synthesizing, and learning. Each artist employs a practice that has evolved from a variety of unique, often personal research paths; whether their inquiry has been into material, performance, installation, or personal interviews. Vision presents paintings, prints, and images from four artists with deeply-researched processes behind the images they create. Vision is sponsored in part by the Historic Ford Building, Widmer Brothers Brewing, and galleryHOMELAND |

Cheese Wrestling! |
|
Cheese Wrestling
Friday, June 24 – 6-8 pm Join Zack Denfeld and Cathrine Kramer of the Center for Genomic Gastronomy as they lead us on what I suspect will be a more rollicking cheese tasting than we’re all accustomed to. Hear about the Center’s work and then enjoy a cheese-tasting competition where contestants wear wrestling masks and take on the personalities of various cheeses while the audience members taste the actual cheese, listen to the “voice” of the cheese (including legal documents and journalistic coverage) and vote on who the winners are. The winning cheese/wrestler will be crowned and presented with a spray food painting. Please RSVP to by replying to this e-mail or by visiting https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=217312631623984 by Wednesday, June 22. |
