Ask Forgiveness

galleryHOMELAND is proud to present a new installation and solo exhibition of Nick Barbee.
Working within the space, a tabletop maquette represents miniatures of art and spaces that have shaped Barbee’s identity as an artist throughout his history. Working from the experiences of seeing pieces of moving contemporary art from his past galvanized him and drew him to recreate from memory, and arranged these experiences into a labyrinthine fantasy museum. Working from this miniature collage of memories Nick has recreated in actual size and in conversation with this model, several pieces without proper authorization. Better to Ask Forgiveness than Ask Permission.

Good Riddance
New Paintings by Nick Barbee

galleryHOMELAND is proud to present this series of paintings at our annex location HOMEcore, within a exhibitions series call The Parlor. The Parlor is a 40 ft wall within HOMEcore that highlights new works to accompany our main exhibition. We are excited to show Nick Barbee’s new paintings for our first opening at our additional location.

Good Riddance -
Despite the apparent futility of examining histories whose outcomes cannot be altered, the ever-changing significance of those histories allows for a continual reevaluation of their meaning. These paintings are a claim on those histories.

HOMEcore is located at 2010 Commerce street Unit B on the back side of the building facing Franklin.

Both exhibitions are an investigation of memory and inherited history.
