galleryHOMELAND presents FIGURE 3, works by three contemporary, female figure painters.
A resident of Portland, OR, Amore uses a semi-autobiographical narrative as a jumping off point to explore the emotional and physical figure of the feminine in society. Amore studied painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and at the University of Oregon where she received her BFA. Amore has shown in Los Angeles, Portland, Scope Hamptons, and at the Istanbul Biennale, Turkey.
Brooks lives in Los Angeles, CA and her current body of paintings and sculptural works examines the natural law of personal mythology building through her use of canonized symbolism and open expression of gender and sexuality. Brooks studied painting the Pratt Institute of Art and Design, where she earned her BFA. Brooks has shown her work nationally in Miami, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles and internationally at Scope London and at Campus Hanoi in Vietnam as an Artist-in-Residence.
A Portland, OR native, Lincoln is presently a Brooklyn, NY-based artist who works primarily in a representational mien, exploring interior spaces and characters of psychological relevance. Lincoln studied painting at the University of California Davis, Brandeis University, and the Tyler school of Art, where she earned her MFA. She moved to New York in 2006 upon receiving a Swing Space Residency from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Lincoln has shown her work around the country, including Philadelphia, Boston, Davis, CA, Richmond, VA, and Portland, OR. Currently she is spending the summer in Tokyo, working as a professor of painting and drawing at Temple University’s Japan campus.
