Aug 1st – Aug 22nd

Opening reception: Aug 1st 6pm-9pm

Sylvia Mann

Sylvia Mann new work focuses on the pure nature of plein air painting traditions. Working with the local region and geography of which she lives, Mann documents the everyday purity of the Pacific Northwest.  Using bold colors, textures, and gestural brush work to capture her surroundings.  The Northwest is known for its unaltered beauty and has a long history of attracting and creating Regionally, Nationally, and Internationally recognized artists.  Much like the nature and purity of light that attracted Paul Gauguin to the Caribbean and Southern France, the Pacific Northwest attracts with its soft, subtle, and brilliantly colored lighting upon its landscapes.

“Making art, I feel a freedom to express myself fearlessly”.

Sylvia Mann is a Portland native exhibiting regionally since 1995.  She received a B.A. in fine and applied arts from the University of Oregon and continues to work on numerous projects through the community.
