Opening Reception

First Friday, November 5th   6-9 pm

galleryHOMELAND proudly presents new work by Jonathan Leach in his first solo show in Portland, Someday We’ll Find It… In this new show Leach presents his large scale abstracted paintings paired with a fresh and new 3D element.  Breaking out beyond the framework of the canvas into something more sculptural, Leach remains rooted in the language developed in his landscapes. The new paintings on plexiglas cubes demand movement from the viewer as they experience the different sides of the composition blending together and changing while circling the object. His widely successful treatment of his materials both on the canvas and off, has allowed for the success of his work both with the critics and his collectors.

Jonathan Leach lives and works in Houston, Texas.  His work has been featured at prestigious galleries and institutions across Texas, including the Lawndale Art Center, Galveston Art Center, The Blaffer Museum, and Sonja Roesch Gallery.  In Portland, his work has been exhibited at galleryHOMELAND’s Scratching the Suface project as well as several group shows.  In 2006 Leach’s work was juried into The Portland Modern catalog and exhibited later with Tilt Gallery.
