Ruth Marshall (EAST)

Textiles readjust the balance between environmental issues of conservation and a commercially driven, modern world. Marshall’s one of a kind textiles are exact replicas of individual animals she has studied. By creating a more lucrative market for hand crafted faux pelt created by an artist over a poached skin, Marshall’s work implicitly resets the black market’s demand. Marshall signifies how supporting the culture of the society, in this case art, is more sustainable, viable and lucrative than short term gains of a consumer driven world.
