“Beuys, Ben and Me” intertwines the material substance of wire with the thoughts of renowned Fluxus artists. At times directly quoted, other times edited by Kiessling herself, the artist physically illuminates words and elevates them to a startling visual status. In her installation of electric lit text, Kiessling directly calls attention to the meaningful, investigative and still valid questions of creating – inquiring into art’s purpose and place within the contemporary art world. Her installation is a bright commentary on art history’s relevance throughout time. Kiessling’s use of light references the universal component of light within all art and light as an fundamental element connecting life outside art.
