With new art pieces incorporating physical elements of light, Ando’s signature metal canvases enter new territory. Containing the same visual language as her two-dimensional metal wall canvases, a new collaboration with James George takes on the form of a steel cube designed to resonate light in relation to motion of viewers. Inner and exterior balance within the ephemeral continues with “I’m Beautiful Night”, Ando’s magical hybrid of wall painting, calligraphy and Japanese iconography which is invisible in daylight and only appears in the darkness of night. In Ando‘s other new works exhibited, phosphorescence works absorb and emit light. Individually and as a greater collective, Ando’s art embodies the delicate nature of consciousness or enlightenment.
